Oh dear… Soylent is about to crowdsource me out of a job

‘We got it down to about 30 cents a paragraph’. That is A LOT less than my day rate.

Although, on the plus side,  ‘fixing about 90% of the errors’ doesn’t sound that impressive.

And there’s no substitute for a human being when it comes to telling an overenthusiastic marketer: “You can’t write that, we’ll get sued.”

So as long as nobody comes along to reinvent everything about the email inbox as well, I should be able to still find some work.

Oh. Bugger.

    It certainly is. Though I don't actually think it'll put me out of a job. It has a sinister name, and isn't very good at what it does.

    But is is interesting to see a Microsoft Office product behaving like an online application. And it's a demonstration that we've barely scratched the surface of the possibilities of crowd-sourcing.

    It's an insanely geeky product at the moment, without, I think, any commercial applications (hence the comedy name). But it is also a little hint of things to come – integration of crowdsourcing with desktop products and the production line approach to creative
